Prima Electronic Services has now completed two projects, conducted in cooperation with the University of Cambridge’s Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), that are intended to improve operations at the company’s St Ives’ production facility. Over the course of these projects, detailed mapping and analysis of Prima’s process flows was undertaken. Based on the compiled data, it will subsequently be possible to get a better overview of all the materials used in manufacturing work and what levels of stock will be required at particular stages. The long-term objective, using this data, is to implement a comprehensive enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that will make production activities more streamlined and efficient, as well as reducing potential sources of wastage and keeping overall costs down.
